Local Newspaper Questionnaire Annalysis

I wanted to know what the public wanted from their local newspaper thats why i asked this question. The public wanted slightly more text then pictures within the newspaper but generally it is an even split. So i will make sure i cater to my buyers by providing this.

I asked this question to see what kind of newspaper the public wanted 95% of the people i asked said they wanted colour throughout their local newspaper. Only one person who was from the 66+ age group didn't want colour so i will make sure there is colour throughout my magazine.

I wanted to know what the general public wanted as the main story on the front cover, this is so i knew what would attract them to the newspaper. 35% of people stated that they wanted to see crime and punishment. Followed by 30% of peole wanting to see a piece on human interest. As the majority of people wanted to see crime and punishment on the front cover this is the main story i will be doing.

I asked this question because i felt it was important to know what the public wanted from their local newspaper. 95% of people said they prefer more pictures to text on the front cover. Leading on from this question i asked the buyer to state why and the general comments were becaure it's eye catching and doesn't seem so daunting.

I felt it was important knowing what attracts the buyer to their local newspaper because i want people to read and enjoy it. 75% of people said that the splash (main story on front cover) was the main thing that attracted them to their local newspaper. So i will make sure the splash is big, bold and interesting. 20% of people said that the photograph was the most important thing that attracts them to their local newspaper, this was mainly the younger audience but because i want my local newspaper to be read by all generations i will also make sure my picture is interesting and eye grabbing.

I felt knowing how much the buyer would spend on their local newspaper was very important, because if you want to sell you need to know the maximum people will pay. From my results I can see 15/20 people felt more comfortable paying between 10-20p for their local news paper. I will make sure my local newspaper when brought in local supermarkets, shops and gas stations is in this price range.

I felt it was important to know how often the public would purchase their local newspaper because ther's no point having producing more then the public want. 85% of people said they would purchase their local newspaper weekly. So i will be giving my newspaper out for free in a weekly addition.

90% people said they would be more likely to read their local newspaper if it was free. Because of this fact my local newspaper will defenetly be free. Because the advertisements from companys within my local newspaper i don't need the public to pay for it.

Do you know where you can purchase your Local Newspaper from, and please state where?

I wanted to know if the public knew where to purchase their local newspaper, 19 out of the 20 people i asked knew where they could purchase their local newspaper from. And the person who didn't was the youngest person who participated in my questionaire.
I then led on with my next question by asking them to state where they could purchase it from. The marjority of people said the supermarket, their local shop and gas stations.

Out of the 20 people i asked all of their house holds recieved their local newspaper for free and from my previous question i already know 18 out of these 20 read their local newspaper. Because of this result i will be giving my local newspaper away for free.

I asked if people read their local newspaper to get an understanding of how many people and what age group's read their local newspaper, and who i'ld be marketing to. Out of the 20 people i aked 18 of them did read their local newspaper and the two people who didn't were from the 15-25 age group.

I asked a wide range in age groups from the age of 15 to 66+ , I did this because I wanted to know what all the different age groups liked and what I should put in my local newspaper to appeal to as many people as possible. Even though local newspapers are read mostly by the older generation i would like my newspaper to appeal to as many people as possible so i'll have a wider market.

I asked what gender people are because I felt it was an important impact to the results. I needed to know what the different genders liked and what I was going to cater for. I purposely asked an even amount of females to males because I felt this would be more of an honest result, and this way I’d know what both sexes liked.
