Analysis of a Local Newspaper's second page:

This second page of this Local Newspaper is also ‘Bracknell Forest Standard’ and has also been laid out like most local newspapers. ‘Bracknell Forest Standard’ follows the same structure throughout all their additions. This page also follows the typical codes and conventions as other newspapers, because it gives the reader a consistent look and feel of a newspaper.

The content is also at the bottom left hand side of this newspaper it doesn’t take up much space but looks neat and is very helpful to the readers so I will be incorporating this into my Local Newspaper.

On this page I don’t feel there are enough pictures relating to the articles, however the pictures are community based and I would like to have community based pictures throughout my newspaper. In my Local Newspaper I am going to include more pictures then this because 45% of people who filled in my questionnaire said they would like more pictures to text. So even though I will provide the readers with more text then pictures there need’s to be a fair amount of pictures within my Local Newspaper. The pictures also allow the text to be broken up and not look so daunting for the younger generation, and add better understanding to the text. The captions for the pictures were not directly below; in my Local Newspaper I will have my captions directly below so people understand what the picture is about.

There are almost no advertisements on this page. I will be having more advertisements on my second page advertising local businesses. This will be laid out neatly down one side of the newspaper so it gives a clean, professional look.

I really like the way the articles have been written neatly in five straight columns going down the page. I feel this looks neat and professional and is easy to read. I also like the subheadings because they are bigger and bolder then the other text and really break up and divide the articles which make it less daunting to read.

I would also like to add a bit more colour to my Local Newspaper because from my questionnaire I discovered 19/20 people would prefer colour throughout there Local Newspaper.
