Product Placement:

Newspapers are sold all over the world and are widely accessible to everyone. These days there are many ways in which people can access a newspaper, from purchasing it from their local store to ordering it through the internet. Newspaper companies even have websites which they use to upload the latest news and other information. Even though there has been a decline in newspaper sales mainly because of other sources of media, such as the growth of the internet which is one source that is putting pressure on newspaper sales. The internet is an new and easy technology where the generall public can gain information quickly and at there own leisure. Many people now use the internet to check out the latest news instead of purchasing a newspaper because this isn’t only easier but cheaper. However there is still a large market to sell to, as newspapers are a daily loyalty in millions of people’s lives. Because of this I feel I will need to analyse the market and decide which will be the best way to advertise my product for the public so I can achieve maximum sales. From my questionnaires I have decided to advertise my local newspaper through the radio and posters, I feel these are two sources that can reach the general public affectively. From my questionnaire 100% of people said they listen to the radio and 60% of people said they found posters very affective. There are many challenges for the newspaper industry to overcome but there are still many people who purchase newspapers so I believe my newspaper can be successful.
National newspapers and local newspapers are mainly sold in supermarkets, local shops, petrol stations, through the internet, just about everywhere. Generally local newspapers are posted free through people’s doors. Looking at my questionnaire results this is what I have decided to do because people mainly said they would read them if they were free. I will also be selling my local newspaper in shops as well for under 20p.
