Analysis of a Local Newspaper's second page:

This second page of this Local Newspaper ‘Bracknell Forest Standard’ has been laid out like most local newspapers. ‘Bracknell Forest Standard’ follows the same structure throughout all their additions. This page also follows the typical codes and conventions as other newspapers, because it gives the reader a consistent look and feel of a newspaper.

Like most newspapers some of the articles are displayed on the front page of the newspaper to show the reader what is inside the newspaper. And on the second page of the newspaper there is a content to show you what else is in the newspaper. I will be doing this in my Local Newspaper so the readers know were to find everything quickly and easily.

The main article on the front page generally follows onto another page within the newspaper. I’m going to have mine follow onto the second page.

On this page I don’t feel there are enough pictures relating to the articles. In my Local Newspaper I am going to include more pictures then this because 45% of people who filled in my questionnaire said they would like more pictures to text. So even though I will provide the readers with more text then pictures there need’s to be a fair amount of pictures within my Local Newspaper. The pictures also allow the text to be broken up and not look so daunting for the younger generation, and add better understanding to the text. The captions for the pictures were not directly below, in my Local Newspaper I will have my captions directly below so people understand what the picture is about.

There are almost no advertisements on this page. I will be having a few advertisements for local businesses neatly down one side of the newspaper so it gives a clean, professional look.

I really like the way the articles have been written neatly in five straight columns going down the page. I feel this looks neat and professional and is easy to read. I also like the subheadings because they are bigger and bolder then the other text and really break up and divide the articles which make it less daunting to read.
